A really interesting article. Anti-Black racism is a huge issue in my (South Asian) community also, but similar to what you mentioned about Costa Rica, we really don’t talk about it. People would look at me like I was crazy if I talked about skin bleaching being rooted in white supremacy even tho it obviously is too. Being a second generation immigrant definitely has provided me with more awareness. Racism is a learned behavior, but sometimes it’s so ingrained in the culture people might not be aware that it’s wrong until someone calls it out. The treatment of Haitians in the DR and Dalits in India comes to mind.
