I'd known this pastor for awhile, as someone who attended my Bible study. At this time, he's a chaplain for multiple organizations but is not the pastor of a church (as in a church building, congregation, etc.). When I ended the toxic relationship I was involved in, the pastor reached out to me, as I'd indicated that I had an interest in prison ministry via social media, etc. I ended up doing ministry with this pastor until troubling patterns began to emerge, and I learned of his abusive behavior toward his wife and children. He didn't take to the distance too well and lashed out at me as well as his wife and kids as a result. And so, what was intended to be distance ended up with me effectively having to cut him off completely.
