Because, lest we forget, women and girls are raped and murdered more frequently than any other group. Women and girls are subject to verbal and sexual harassment more than any other group. Women and girls are uniquely susceptible to male violence and its consequences. More so than any other group. And all of this is why they spent so long fighting for a few spaces where they don’t have to wonder if the man next to them is one of the nice ones.
